my favorite lift of the year

Penny

Penny is a good friend. We worked together on a show is 2004, 2005. He announced, did electric, mechanics, driver, the stuff the makes the show move.
On LBC he drives and is an electician and lighting guy.He is one of those people who knows what to do as far as the flow of show and rigging is concerned. He drinks Monster, whatever that is. Those energy drink things are a mystery to me.

Last week somewhere in Florida

One day all I had to work with was the bottom part of beams. Fortunately there was a lift! only 20 feet to the beam, kind of low. Very fortunately Tavana had given me these very very cool beam clamps.

Sladek decided he was into rigging and was hogging the lift. I hung my fabric after he hung some other rigging. He decided I was being a moody martyr and left me to my own devices, to figure out these very cool beam clamps ,these clamps are very cool because they come apart and you can build them on to the beam. My problem was I couldn't get some of the nuts to move. I got myself into a sweaty panic and let Sladek save the day.

the band

Glen Moon is playing in the "band" , he plays bass guitar, trumpet ,trombone, keyboard, and sometimes dances !!

Denis Sherman feeds the canned music and accompanies on drums.

It is a delight to have live musicians, even if it is only two.

The musical sound is so much better when it is live.

The difference is like between eating an apple or watching a movie about eating an apple , or like watching a TV show with animals performing behaviors or seeing an animal live in front of your very eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! what a concept!! Actually Justin Loomis wants to have a band!! why ? because it makes the show so so so much better.

The rigging and comedy of Sladek and Ostroff

I don't know who out arabesques or develope' d who..rigging can be fun

Rigging can also be dangerous. Today while walking on the beam a bolt fell off the brace and onto the ground, Sladek was holding on to the beam with one hand. If you are not wearing a rigging harness you got to have some kind of safety. For example hold onto as many things as possible

Fernando

One day it took Fernando 4 hours to set up his dish, bad wires. He is very dedicated.
